As we enter our thirties, our skin starts to go through changes. Hormonal fluctuations, environmental stressors, and a busy lifestyle can all take a toll on our skin. That’s why it’s important to have a good skincare routine in place, especially at night when our skin is repairing and rejuvenating itself. Here’s a step-by-step guide to the best nightly skincare routine for a woman in her early 30s.

Step 1: Cleanse

The first step in any skincare routine is to cleanse your skin. This is especially important at night when your skin has been exposed to dirt, oil, and makeup throughout the day. A gentle, water-based cleanser is a good option. Avoid using cleansers that contain harsh chemicals or exfoliants as they can be too harsh on the skin. *PRO TIP: If you wore makeup or sunscreen during the day make sure you double cleanse; meaning, wash your face twice. Starting with an oil-based cleanser followed by a water based cleanser.

My favourite tested and tried is “The Water Cream Oil-free Pore Minimizing Moisturizer” by Tatcha. I’ll be writing a separate article on why this is an absolute must in your skincare routine.

Step 2: Tone

After cleansing, the next step is to use a toner. Toners help to restore the skin’s natural pH balance and remove any remaining traces of dirt or makeup. Look for a toner that contains antioxidants or anti-inflammatory ingredients, like aloe vera or green tea, which can help to soothe and protect the skin.

PRO TIP: Ensure the toner has a PH of 5.5, however acceptable ranges are from 4.5-7  this protects

Step 3: Serum

The next step is to apply a serum. Serums are formulated to target specific skin concerns, such as wrinkles, dullness, and uneven skin tone. As we enter our 30s, it’s a good idea to start using a serum that contains retinol, hyaluronic acid or Vitamin C. These ingredients are known to help to boost collagen production, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and improve the overall texture and tone of the skin. My main concern has always been white heads so my absolute favourite has been by The Ordinary -salicylic acid. Not only do I love its effectiveness with consistent use but also LOVE its very affordable price point.

Step 4: Eye Cream

The skin around the eyes is delicate, thin and more prone to wrinkles, so it’s important to use a special eye cream. An eye cream that contains ingredients like caffeine, retinol, or Vitamin K can help to reduce puffiness and dark circles, and also strengthen the skin around the eyes, making it look less prone to wrinkles.

Step 5: Moisturize

The last step in your nighttime skincare routine should be to moisturize. Moisturizing is essential to keep the skin hydrated and smooth. It’s important to use a moisturizer that suits your skin type. If you have dry skin, opt for a rich and creamy moisturizer, while those with oily skin should opt for a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer.

Finally, it’s important to remember that consistency is key when it comes to skincare. Stick to this routine every night, and you’ll be on your way to healthier, more youthful-looking skin. Also, it’s important to not forget to wear sunscreen during the day, as UV rays are the number one cause of aging.

In conclusion, taking care of your skin in your early 30s is crucial to maintain a youthful and healthy appearance. By following this step-by-step guide for a nightly skincare routine, you will be able to target specific skin concerns, such as wrinkles, dullness, and uneven skin tone, and boost collagen production. And most importantly, by being consistent, you will achieve beautiful and healthy skin. For a list of my favourite products click here!
